Welcome from windows. I am actually going to answer this, even though
you have displayed exactly zero knowledge of ubuntu by making this post.
By the way, have you bothered to even look at the online documentation?
It would have answered every single one of your questions.
Firstly, the installation does not ask for a root passwrod because
Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and every other Ubunutu derivative has no root account.
You complete root functions by prefacing commands with sudo. The type in
your own password when it is requested. The point of this is to avoid
the need for a root account, which damages security.
Don't allow people to log into recovery mode if you don't want them to.
Eliminate it from the grub menu.
With all issues where you complain about not having enough control, go
for gentoo or debian if you want all that. Ubuntu is designed to make
things as easy as possible, which means some loss of installation
flexibility, but once it is installed, ANYTHING can be changed,
including all those things you don't like.
With the screen resolution, read the manual please. It will answer the
question so I won't waste time with it.
Kubuntu comes with many utilities besides those for KDE, and Ubuntu
comes with many besides those which are part of Gnome. You could have
had KAlarm in Gnome by simply typing sudo apt-get install kalarm into a
terminal when you were into the GUI. Similarly, nautilus and gedit can
be installed using the command sudo apt-get install nautilus gedit.
Again, please read the manual before asking stupid questions or throwing
a tantrum.
Finally, to perform any administrative tasks, like editing a
configuration file, you need to use the sudo command. Please learn to
read, this was quite an effort so I hope that this time you payed
attention, as you clearly didn't previously
