Install on Compaq R4000

I will have to try that when I get home. I just thought that the install
halted when I got the black screen. So i can do ctrl-alt-f1 at the black
screen? or before i choose my install method? Sorry, I am new to this
flavor of linux and this is the first time I have tried to put it on a
laptop especially one with 64 bit processor. Seems like it doesn't like
my hardware. Anymore help would be appreciated. Thanks.
