Yes, the boot doesn't HALT.  It is too bad OpenSSH server isn't
installed by default; you could find the IP address in SSH in and kill
kdm.  If the key shortcuts don't work, boot into rescue mode and just
gzip /etc/init.d/kdm.



Once you have X working, use "startx," to start x.  When it works ok,
gunzip /etc/init.d/kdm.



You might want to slip OpenSSH on, to. I think "sudo apt-get install
openssh" will do.
