Hoary Startup & X Server Failure

I intend to install Hoary in my primary system and, to that end I've 
been experimenting with the live version, both AMD64 and i386. In both 
cases the X server fails to start with the complaint that there are no 
screens. As Warty starts with no problems I would be grateful for any 
hints and tips.

For information my machine is based around an AMD64 3200+ in an MSI K8N 
Neo4 Platinum motherboard, with an ATI Radeon X700 (PCIE) graphics card 
and a ViewSonic VP191s LCD monitor.
