NetworkManager

I'm having a similar problem using hoary.  I installed NetworkManager
following http://people.ubuntu.com/~thom/network-manager/ .



It wouldn't run until I loaded a old version of libgnutls.



Now NetworkManager starts at boot, with no obvious errors in the log. 
NetworkManagerInfo is started by System/Sessions.  I don't see any
icon, but I get an occasional crash dialog:



The Application "NetworkManagerNotification" has quit unexpectedly.

You can inform the developer...



All this is without even putting my wireless card in.



Any ideas?
