Hello list and apt-upgrade help

I am new to Ubuntu (former gentoo power user tired of compiling) and I
am wondering if there is a way to tell when I
$sudo apt-get update
$sudo apt-get upgrade
How do I tell which repositories the upgrades are coming from. I
edited my sources.list file today and I have 300+ upgrades available
and this kind of surprised me.

I was shocked to see how active this list is. It's a good thing Gmail
gave me an extra gig of storage. :) I'm happy to see some of my
Hispanic brethren on the list.
