Ubuntu on IBM x40 laptop

I am presently using an Apple iBook G3 with Ubuntu. Considering some
of the linux hardware compatibility problems running on a new G4 iBook
or Powerbook (like Airport Extreme Card) and because of the small form
factor, I am considering an IBM X40 for my next laptop. I would not
be using windows. But just who much works on an X40 under Linux (and
more specifically Ubuntu)?

I am interested to know what is working and more specifically what is
not working with a recent version of IBM's X40 laptop? How about...

sleep
external video
ultrabase (CD?, CDR?, DVD?)
IBM Hard Drive Active Protection System
