Any "Compellng" reason to upgrade?

You do appreciate, of course, that packages in Universe are NOT 
specifically configured to run with Ubuntu? Only packages from main are 
intended to be "100% correct". Everything else is provided as a 
convenience, basically. They worked in Debian, and they compile in 
Ubuntu - but subtle things may well be wrong.

File bugs for things in universe, please :-) They won't get forgotten, 
and the MOTUs will be able to work on them. If you've already fixed the 
problem for your system, include details of that too. File them for 
main, too, if you find them (there are some :-)

You get out of life what you put in to it - you are finding problems in 
some packages, that's bad for you, but at least you can file bugs and 
help fix them for others.
