Maybe I should apologize as it might not be the case. Probably the
Hoary team did the best they could, given the switch from XFree to XOrg
(where I got losses of performance on my S3 Savage/IX after my
distribution upgrade).

However, I still have complaints (regardless of the fact that I praised
Ubuntu 5.04 top all my friends!!) about Hoary -- this time, about the
server && development side.

Apache+PHP+MySQL, the packages in the universe or whatwever (apt-get
install with ALL repositories enabled) are NOT properly configured to
run!
-- I had to change UID and GID for 'www-data' in order to allow suexec2
to enable Apache2 to run PHP scripts;
-- phpMyAdmin still doesn't work, with some mcrypt.c error, even if I
have everything installed;
-- I can't get SSL to work in Apache2, even with all help/howtos from
Debian.

Let's get straight:
1). I don't only need Ubuntu as a desktop Linux, but also for a server
and devel machine.
2). I don't only need Ubuntu on my new PC, but also on my old laptop,
where I still want to do most of the development and testing.
3). If I choose Ubuntu 5.04 over Debian or Slackware or Gentoo, it's
because: a). I don't want to configure && compile && configure and
compile and compile each and every package I want installed or
upgraded.
b). I want the latest GNOME.

Voila.
