Two player games over the internet?

Hello,

I'm wondering if any of you have experience in simple two-player games
that can be played over the internet that are available in hoary?  My
fiancée is stuck in another city and we like to play little games
together.  Currently we are playing the freeciv2 beta but that gets a
bit tiresome after a while.

Are any of you in a similar situation?  If so, could you share your
experience and let me know what some good two-player games internet
capable games are in the hoary repository?
