Two player games over the internet?

It's not actually a 'simple' game, but if you were playing FreeCiv, then
maybe you'd like to give it a try: Battle for Wesnoth[1]. The current
version (0.8.11) is in Hoary's universe (the 'wesnoth' package), and
future releases should be easily obtainable as .deb files. It takes
a bit of time to get used to Wesnoth and start enjoying it fully, but
it's well worth at least a try, IMHO.
