Do these messages appear also with metacity in GNOME?

This really isn't a show-stopper, but I'm certainly willing to push this
issue upstream.

Also not a show-stopper but will investigate with upstream. Target will
be Breezy.

"default" should be the first choice. In the Xfce Session options, did
you enable the checkbox for starting GNOME helpers?
