Audio skipping in Ubuntu

I had the exact same problem, with keyboard stutter and mouse stutter at
the same time, I shut down the powernowd process, and all is well,
something to do with cpu freq scaling, which I mostly don't care about,
especially if it causes these kinds of problems, no problem since then,
beyond the limitations of the slow IDE system on my 8100.
