ssh x remote session, requisites?

Are you making a connection *from* your Ubuntu machine?

Try ssh -Xv to request X11, and to see some debugging info. When you get 
on to the remote machine, "echo $DISPLAY" to see if forwarding will work.

If this works, you need to add the line "ForwardX11 yes" to 
$HOME/.ssh/config
