ssh x remote session, requisites?

Hi everyone there,
well my problem is that I can not open a remote x
session using de ssh that comes with ubunt,
with red hat 9.0 it works fine,
on xp I can do it, but not in ubuntu, so
I tried every step you have mentioned before.
So my question, does the admin of the server at my
school has to do something, in order to get ubuntu
functioning,
so far these steps have been made by:
conecting using ssh's combinations posible of its
parameters.
Configured ssh_config
and sshd_config
something  with gnome, I don't remember what,
and simply Ubuntu doesnot open an X application on a
Sun server.

do you have some adbvice, besides changing back to red
hat,
I like ubuntu because is mp3 compatible :)
and another issues like is more friendly
