Will there be a boot splash like the one in suse, mandrake?

The reason I don't like framebuffer dependence is that a lot of kernel
errors/hangs (that sometimes result from bad kernel config options)
result in the kernel hangs while vesaFB is switching the display mode,
leaving you at a pitch-black screen. Turning off framebuffer allows you
to see those errors. Similarly, I've seen some splash-enabled LiveCD's
hang while probing scsi modules, and the poor user has no chance to hit
F2 or ESC before the hang.

An X-based solution would be prettiest and the most efficient. It would
be cool, too, if the graphicalboot X can transition over to GDM without
the need to zap X. I have seen cases where a quick zap-n-restart of X
freezes NVidia cards. (of course, those were with framebuffer on! LOL)
