Hi,
Don't bother yourself with the kernel logs or playing with the
suspend scripts as they are really unrelated to what causes the `beep'
to sound. They are related to your hardware.

On my IBM T40, there exists an option to turn off beep alerts from
the BIOS. I am not sure as to the version of the BIOS you have but i
think IBM ought to use the same BIOS on all their laptops.

As an important side note, it is normal for the thinkpad to generate
a gentle short beep sound upon suspension. You do not hear this normally
because of the ACPI interface Windows and most other linux distributions
use to manage power. Thinkpads may generate an intense series of beeps,
those which are not normal and indicate an error.

This info is to the best of my knowledge,

Nightfly
