OT: recommend fast 2D card?

Agree. Text display quality is my first priority.  Matrox cards do it
better than any others I've used, including the Nvidia that replaced
my G550.

I really wish someone would fix this issue of Matrox cards, flat
panels and DVI.  (Would have saved me some cash.) It's my
understanding that it impacts every card since the 550. Matrox would
sell more cards if they'd release a complete driver, like Nvidia, or,
better yet, release some specs and code.  Right now, Matrox is a
CRT-only card.
