Sound and /dev/sequencer

Hello All!

Thanks for the great effort, almost everything is
running smoothly and I've made the switch from
Slackware!

One ploblem, I don't seem to have /dev/sequencer....

I'm on an old compaq with an ESS Solo1 sound card,
everything works fine, except one game (I know..he!)
complaings about no /dev/sequencer...hmmmm

Also, is there a way to force the system to use ALSA? 
With OSS emulation?  Seems to work best for me in most
situations.
