Info on kernel choice

As far as i know you are right in that any WOULD work. They are simply
different versions for different optimizations. 386 is the base kernel
that is compiled to work on all systems. Its actually against the 486
instruction set i think ratehr than the 386 as the name suggests. Te
k7 is for athlon processors and includes optimizations for its
specific features and 686 is for Pentium 4s. The smp moniker variants
are just for systems running with more than 1 processor (symetric
mulit-processing). In your case I think the 686 would be the best one
if it is a recent celeron otherwise the 386. For general computing i
would argue that there is not much to differentiate them but i may be
wrong, in that case its easier to just use the 386 version that
installs be default.

feel free to correct me if im wrong on any ofthe points :)
