Linux Stand Alone Database?

I'm looking at the Ubuntu alternatives to some of the apps I use
all the time in OS X. One type of app I can't seem to find is a
FileMaker like database. Now I know all the CLI junkies will
say, "Are you crazy?!? You've got MySQL right in front of you."
I know that.

What I'm looking for is a stand alone GUI database app to build
quick and simple databases with the db front-end built in--like
FileMaker. I know all the pluses and minuses of FileMaker, and
that's not the issue.

The issue is if I want to do a quick and dirty customized db of
my CD, DVD, or book collection and I don't want to run a system
wide db server to do it (like MySQL), is there such a thing in
Linux?
