SATA issues when booting Ubuntu

I just had a thought...

I checked in /etc/modules and sata_sil is not there. So, is hotplug
the thing responsible for loading the sata_sil kernel module at boot
time? Perhaps hotplug is being run *after* fstab is processed.

If this is the case, the Ubuntu installer should have added the
sata_sil module into my modules.conf during the install, or Ubuntu
should ensure that hotplug runs *before* fstab-ing.

What do you all think?
