Hey everyone,

I'm trying to run Ubuntu in a VMWare virtual machine and I'm running
into problems while trying to set up the VMWare tools that allow you
to run higher resolutions.

I can install the tools just fine, but when I go to configure them it
wants to compile the vmhgf module and requires the kernel source files
to do it (apparently VMWare doesnt come with prebuilt versions that
match the 2.6.8 kernel?). It doesnt look like the default Ubuntu
install includes kernel sources. Am I right?

How can I solve this problem? How do I install the kernel sources
(2.6.8.1-2-386)?

I'm really new to linux so detailed help is very much appreciated.

PS. Has anyone tried running Ubuntu on their IBM X40? Did you run
into any problems with hardware compatability besides needed the
centrino wireless drivers (ie. did the infrared port work fine? what
about all the Fn hotkeys?)? How is your battery life compared to what
you expected it to be or compared to a windows install? Thanks for
all the information in advance!
