Somebody will probably correct me but all the OSS for running windows software are not very easy to set up, can only run some of the software and is not exactly suitable for novices. I spent ages trying to find something that would allow me to run IE (to test websites) and think there is nothing that runs dreamweaver. There are a few commercial solutions but I don't know much about them (vmware being a well known one).

Sorry I could be of no real help,
ben

Hi, I'm currently evaluation Ubuntu to be recommended to my friends
(which are non-IT experts). Among their needs are Wine, to execute their
proprietary Windows software (Lotus Notes, etc)

However, I couldn't find Wine in Synaptic.

There are ways to install Wine in Ubuntu, but I'll very much prefer to
install it via Ubuntu-supported package. Does such thing exist ?

Many thanks,
Harry
