apt sources

I read on the ubuntu site that it isn't a good idea to mix debian and
ubunu, but it said binaries are not the same but the source i think it
said is the same here is the quote:

"While Debian and Ubuntu are compatible to a large degree, and share
many of the same source packages, the binary packages are not identical
due to having been built independently."

It kinda sounds like u can maybe mix apt sources if u use debian src
like: deb-src blah
