After ATI UPDATE ....LOGIN PROBLEMS.

Tom,

Did you fix your login manager?

I had a similar problem... I have a fresh re-install (only thing that
remained was my /home partition). In synaptic, I selected the security and
main repositories (NOT the universe repository) and did a refresh. Then I
selected "mark upgrades" and applied them.

Now when I put my username in gdm, it gives a splash screen and hangs (but
I can alt+ctrl+f1 out to a command prompt).

I do have an ATI Radeon 9500 pro, so it could have selected an ATI update
without me knowing it? What is the exact name of the package you updated?

Hope we can both get this fixed!
