The source might not always be the same as ubuntu patches might not have

I think the problem (apart from the fact libs might diverge at some
point) is the fact you can potentially have two packages with the same
version number. Apt will bork on this.

This should work without problems but it's goint to be difficult to get
support, you will be on your own ;-) I am pretty sure that everything
is in universe that is in the debian src archives so you might be better
off using stuff out of universe. It's not supported but at least you
are using the same build as everyone else so get more peer support.
Personally I am sticking with supported stuff until after the release
then I will go unsupported all the way.
