Media files in Totem - not using esd when run under right-click menu

I can play my media files perfectly so long as it's run under "gksudo"
and I fixed Xine (and the gxine frontend) to run under user mode by
using the esound setting (when run under gksudo, the settings are for a
different user). But I can't get Totem-xine to play sound unless it's
running under gksudo, which means double-clicking on media files in
Nautilus plays mute movies :)  Since it's a GNOME app, shouldn't it be
using esound by default?
