Hi Chuck!
Before replying, i would say that my irritation for FAM is derived and
been possible by the great opinion that I have of Warty release (not a
so paradox that it's seem, i think...). If Warty was only a "good
distro among other good distros", FAM would been my last problem.
So, I'd like not to stink too much flamy in my posts. ;)

Gnome uses it but it can live in a good way without it (probe it: you
can apt-get remove fam or disable the service in /etc/init.d without
any damage to Gnome).
I think that the necessity (without fam) to do Ctrl+R in Nautilus to
update the directory contents is a lesser problem than (with fam) the
possibility that an average user can't unmount a removable device.
Obviously, it's only my opinion.

The better way would have been to package fam, put in main but *not*
install it by default. I know that for Hoary will be gamin as a
replacement but Warty's users are a lot...

FAM is known to be buggy, i'm sorry to say. Go around googlin' (and
bugs.debian.org-ing... ;) ) and see by yourself. It's not a problem of
only Warty.

<QUOTE> I also hope that you'll work with the Ubuntu devs in resolving
the fam
problems so that we can have our cake an eat it too.

Yes, i'll install Hoary in these days to help development.

Thanks for the reply.
