Hi Vince,
About the lib 'thing', I think you'll find that libxfcegui4.so.1 is a
link pointing to libxfcegui4.so.1.0.9 but yes, it looks like you'll need
to update at least that library. By adding the lines mentioned in my
last post to your /etc/apt/sources.list (you might need to add Debian
testing and/or unstable as well) you should be able to install
XFce-4.2... unless somebody on the list knows of Ubuntu-specific .deb's
floating around somewhere. IIRC, I used the graphical installers
available here: http://www.os-cillation.com/article.php?sid=42 . Having
said that though, I'm still using Gnome as installed with Ubuntu - I
kinda like it :-)
