Oops..yes... did ls -l and indeed it's just a shortcut...

Okay, will try to do that.

Yes, I am currently reading stuff about Xfce all over the web, and just
found out about this installer. Sounds incredible, so easy and user
friendly. That said, had Gnome had the same thing (Garnome scares the
hell out of me...), it would have let me installed Gnome 2.8 myself on
Mandrake 9.2 (what I was using), and I would probably not have given
Ubuntu a try ! :-O Scary thought isn't it ?! ;o)
But seriously, although I have to keep reading about it, this latest
Xfce seems really a great DE. Basically all the advantage of Gnome, easy
to use, clean and consistent looking desktop, without the problems...
sluggish-ness (is that a word ?) and stability (every app or applet just
keeps crashing/disappearing every now and then ! :-/ ).
So with this wonderful installer, it defininetely fits Ubuntu's aim for
a user friendly, nice looking and fast DE. Maybe Ubuntu should offer a
Xfce version... Oh, I am starting to sound like the chap who wanted to
put KDE in Ubuntu my God ! Okay I think it's time to stop there ;o)

> Having said that though, I'm still using Gnome as installed with Ubuntu - I kinda like it :-)

Yeah.... what would we do without our Gnome :o) A bit slow but with
todays machines, not a problem. Stability should be there primary goal
now.... lots of work indeed !! :-O :o(((

Vince
