UBuntu on older machines ?

well - it looks even nicer than when i last used it ages ago, it looks
like its been updated to gtk2+ so will feel "gnomey" but will just run
faster.

As for downloading it - i have no idea how big it is - but as gnome is
already installed, pretty much all the dependancies will be taken car
of and should only be a small amout for teh actual xfce. Enable the
universe as i think it is in there and give it a go. It wil install
itself and when you next run gdm you can select xfce from the sessions
menu instead of gnome. I cant remember off teh top of my head how you
make it the default one. I think it is  the xsessions file in your
home directory, but thats probably wrong.
