LiveCD - Changing eth0 settings not working

I'm trying to evaluate ubuntu from a live cd I received but when I change
the network settings for internet access the program will not allow me to
bring up mozilla to test the settings. 
 
Prior to changing the settings I can get the browser to work just fine.
 
We're using static IP's so the default DHCP config won't satisfy my needs in
this case.
 
Any suggestions?
