Adept??? & Kubuntu???

I installed  Kubuntu last week and proceeded to upgrade the
packages and install a few. Firefox locked up on the Java
install. Then Adept locked me out from making any further
changes. I think I have it unlocked now, but not sure. Should I
be doing something different.
