Glad to have you - we take whatever types of contributions people have
to give.

The best venue is whichever one you feel most comfortable with.  IRC
is more real-time,  but you may or may not find people online at the
same time as you.  The mailing list is more likely to be viewed by
more people eventually, but you may have to wait hours or days for an
answer.
