Well guys I might have a new project for us.
I want to figure out who would be interested.
Here is the rundown:
I have a new client. They are a small Catholic School in the Chicago
Arch Diocese. Basically I took over their IT because well. The previous
company although they had good rates kept insisting they need to
purchase more hardware. So at the time I took over they have a total of
3 rack servers (HP ProLiant DL145) and 1 tower (HP Proliant ML350). They
are using barely any of their available resources and could easily get
by with just 2 servers.
Here's the deal:
If we could set up Linux and get Moodle up and running on one of the
servers, I can have them donate one of the servers to Linux/GNU.
Additional perks include an article in the paper. I would also get Mark
Viner to come and check out the linux server. He is the head of IT in
the Chicago Arch Diocese. So if there is any new technology to be
introduced he decides it and does all the training for it. I've been
trying to get the Arch Diocese to pick up linux for a while now and this
would be a good stepping stone.
Please let me know if you are interested or your thoughts.
Robert
