[Ubuntu Chicago] Tech support related question

Clarification question, not meant as a snide remark or an answer -
Why are you installing KDE to an Ubuntu Server install?
Why not just use KUbuntu?
If you're looking for a super lightweight desktop, try xfce or if you really
want performance and don't care about looks, try icewm
Back when I was a starving college student, (before I became a starving
adult open-source developer) I ran icewm on my p2-300 I had cobbled together
from trash parts. Ran super fast with my pathetic 128 ram, 4 gb harddrive
and 3dfx graphics.
Is your goal just to get some type of windowing system up for ease of
occasional maintainance or for regular use or for something entirely
different?
I can help better if I have a clearer picture of what you're trying to
accomplish.
