Ubuntu-Chicago laptop shopping

Anyone know of any good laptop deals under 600? I'm looking to get 
something that will last but I don't need it to be fancy. IAll I plan on 
doing on it is running ubuntu w/beryl and I don't need all the bells and 
whistles on beryl, writing papers, surfing the net, checking my email 
and maybe running some emulators but most run on half-way decent 
pentiums III's.

I found two at mircocenter I liked. The acer 5100-3336 but it's $650 and 
its about 50 bucks too much. Maybe it's worth the extra 50. And the Acer 
3680 but it has an intel graphic card. Will intel's graphic card run 
well in Ubuntu with beryl?

Let me know what you guys think. Most of you are way more experienced 
running ubuntu then me.
