Ted,
I have a SE W800i which works well. It auto-mounts in Gnome when 
connected over USB, which makes it a useful Sony card reader, and (using 
kbluetoothd) works well for bluetooth file transfers. I expect you will 
be able to access your plusnet mail as I have full IMAP support on my 
phone, not to mention extra Java apps you could use instead.
