[ubuntu-studio-users] Upgrading from 16.04.2

I am preparing to upgrade a desktop that is currently running Ubuntu Studio
16.04.2. I have hesitated upgrading for so long primarily because of
issues with the newer version of GIMP. I think I am ready to bite the
bullet so to speak and go for 19.04 when it is released. Rather that just
run an upgrade, I want to do a clean install when the time comes. My
hesitation has to do with
configuration files. The machine is networked in the home and serves at
the main hub in my network. Can I just save and move the smb, cups, and
fstab config files for a seamless transition? In past upgrades I have had
to spend hours tweaking these files to get everything running smooth
again. Appreciate any input that can help guide me in this.
