    thanks.  i found some more info on these settings on-line as well.
we shall see if they help with not enough "real time audio processing"
messages in Rosegarden.  i have seen some people setting both to values
as high as 2048 or 3072.  does that make sense?

    point taken.  unfortunately, trying to more with less, or at least
what i already have.
