jack and sound restarting

Its a PCI hammerfall connected to an ultragain pro-8 bheringer box. I
tried turning the behringer AD converter on and off but jack doesn't
work (or starts and then soon stops). Once crashed, it seems screwed for
good. I'll try restarting alsa-utils and see how that goes, many thanks!
