Desktop:

Laptop:

IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link)
You can check that for yourself with machine you have this way:
lspci | grep FireWire
One starting point for laptops on the market (of course out dated) -
manufactures changes devices inside laptops more often than you change
your socks, I think:
