It sounds like something went wrong either when you burned the DVD or
when you downloaded the image. Check the validity of the image with
md5sum, and make sure you have a good DVD disc.
As a side note, Ubuntustudio and Ubuntu share the same repos, so you
will likely experience the same problems.
What exactly were the problems you had with rosegarden?
