dpkg crashes GNOME on UbuntuStudio 9.04

Noticed an extra error from the Synaptic GUI:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a'
to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
