Question about repos on ubuntu server

That's correct. But available packages are just that -- available. The
workings of your system aren't determined by packages which you *could*
install, but the ones you actually do install, which is how all the
Ubuntu derivatives differ.

The server kernel package has a different name than the regular kernel
package.
