@Gunnar, I'm a bit lost there, you write

but on https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/11025 the recent posts suggest that's not the option being considered but that the snapd team would rather import the dictionary in a directory from the snap and set DICPATH to ~/snap/firefox/current/.local/share/hunspell instead?

also my point was that /usr/share/hunspell is the standard default directory for hunspell so shouldn't the code always check that location without having to set DICPATH?
