@Sebastien: I may have misunderstood it, but my interpretation is that none of the options at https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/11025 (besides my initial proposal) has been dismissed yet. I'd love to see some progress. :/

No code looks there without being told so. The Firefox .deb in Ubuntu checks that directory because of spellchecker.dictionary_path in about:config.

But in any case I think that this particular merge request, i.e. setting DICPATH globally via PAM, can probably be closed. Better continue talking elsewhere.
