Hello Ubuntu QA-Team,

I tryed out an Ubuntu 8.10rc, 64 Bit amd64.iso on a Samsung M60, 4 GB RAM, HDD 200GB, 32 Bit Vista Home Premium (the last one I want to replace with Ubuntu)

I have the following error msg on startup, of this kind....
[103.236970]end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sctor 1428912
[103.236116] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 178614
...
[xxx.yyyyyy]end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sctor 1428916
[xxx.yyyyyy] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 35722964

After a long term the ubuntu desktop starts (for testing without any modifications on hdd)
and after a shut down the following message was displayed on screen.
...
Shut Down via gdm.
[xxx.yyyyyy] ata2.00 exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen
[xxx.yyyyyy] ata2.00 cmd a0/00:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0

[xxx.yyyyyy] ata2.00: status { DRDY }

Please remove the disc and close the tray....

I believe that Ubuntu tries to check the windows installation or to write temporary data on hdd... perharps I err myself....

This problem does not occur, if I try the XUbuntu 810rc-amd64-Release... The system starts up with no error msg.

With best regards
