[Bug 1010689] [NEW] Firefox sync does not work

Public bug reported:

When I go into the Preferences--> Sync tab, both clicking on Pair a
Device or Setup Firefox Sync provide no result.

Going from Tools --> Set up Sync gives the following error in the
console:
